Ownership Is the Foundation

Ownership does not require accepting blame for everything that happened. This chapter acknowledges injury, betrayal, loss, and circumstances a person did not choose, then asks what responsibility remains in the present.

That understanding still has to become a response: a changed system, an honest correction, a repaired commitment, or the next necessary action. Help, counsel, treatment, community, and tools can support the work. They cannot live a person's standard for him. Ownership is measured in what happens after the truth becomes clear, including what a man does after he fails and has something real to repair.
